Entegris, Inc.

Entegris, Inc. provides advanced materials and process solutions for the semiconductor and other high-technology industries in North America, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, China, Europe, and Southeast Asia. It operates in two segments, Materials Solutions (MS) and Advanced Purity Solutions (APS). The MS segment provides materials-based solutions, such as chemical vapor and atomic layer deposition materials, chemical mechanical planarization slurries and pads, ion implantation specialty gases, formulated etch and clean materials, and other specialty materials. The APS segment offers filtration, purification, and contamination-control solutions for the semiconductor manufacturing processes, semiconductor ecosystem, and other high-technology industries. The company's customers include logic and memory semiconductor device manufacturers, semiconductor equipment makers, gas and chemical manufacturing companies, and wafer grower companies; and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test facilities, flat panel display equipment makers, and manufacturers of hard disk drive components and devices. It serves manufacturers and suppliers in the solar and life science industries, electrical discharge machining customers, glass manufacturers, aerospace manufacturers, and manufacturers of biomedical implantation devices. Entegris, Inc. was founded in 1966 and is headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts.

What does it do?

Entegris makes the ultra-pure materials and specialty chemicals that chipmakers like TSMC, Samsung, and Intel need to actually build semiconductors. Think of it this way: building a modern chip requires thousands of precise chemical steps, and even a single speck of contamination can ruin the entire wafer. Entegris sells the special gases, slurries, and filtration systems that keep that process clean and precise. Without companies like Entegris, the world's most advanced chips simply could not be manufactured.

Why it matters

As chips get smaller and more complex — down to 2 nanometers and beyond — the materials used to make them have to be exponentially purer and more sophisticated, which means chipmakers need more of what Entegris sells, not less. The global AI boom is driving massive investment in semiconductor fabs (factories), and every new fab that gets built is a new long-term customer for Entegris. It sits in a critical but often overlooked part of the chip supply chain that doesn't get as much headline attention as Nvidia or TSMC, but is just as essential.

02

How does it make money?

Entegris makes money through two main divisions. The Materials Solutions segment sells the actual chemicals used in chip manufacturing — things like deposition materials and chemical slurries that physically shape the chip layer by layer. The Advanced Purity Solutions segment sells filtration systems and containers that keep those chemicals and the fab environment contamination-free. With $3.2B in annual revenue, the business is heavily tied to how much chip production is happening globally — when fabs run at full capacity, Entegris sells more consumables. These are largely repeat purchases, meaning customers come back every production cycle.

03

Why do investors care?

The growth story for Entegris is tied directly to two big trends: the AI-driven surge in semiconductor demand and the global push to build new chip fabs in the US, Europe, and Japan under initiatives like the CHIPS Act. Every new fab represents years of ongoing chemical and materials purchases. Investors are also betting that as chips get more complex, the spending per wafer on materials like the ones Entegris sells will keep rising. What has to go right is that fab construction stays on schedule, chip demand holds up, and Entegris continues to win design-ins — meaning chipmakers choose Entegris materials when engineering new production processes, locking in long-term contracts.
